Yeah, but’s a dry heat!
I know, I know, it’s a dumb reference. But Corporal Hicks is one of the iconic characters of the 80’s whether you want to admit it or not! He’s probably more quoted than any other character except maybe a few of Arnold’s characters. Ah, hell, it’s fun for now so I’m going to roll with it.
Vorpal punishment.
Apologies for the sporadic recent updates, but I can explain everything. Wait! All right I deserve that, but December is bear time wise for anyone and for me it became particularly difficult. First I committed to doing the Harvey storyline over at Superfogeys ( by Brock Heasley) at the last minute when Brock had some cancellations in December for his Origins updates. This wound up being a difficult task due to my demands here at Bullfinch and the fact that Superfogeys:Origins has me drawing, inking, and coloring five full page comic book pages. Though Brock inked the super awesome full page spread on page 3. This was further complicated by some last minute lettering thrown in near the end. Finally on the last page I screwed up the schedule and was a day late causing chaos over at the Superfogeys site.
During this time I was finishing up a special D&D campaign as a wedding present for my cousin (!). (It’s true, he asked me about six months ago and it was really important to him) . Now not everyone knows how demanding this is. In a lot of ways it’s like writing comics but with map making thrown in and dozens of other creative processes going on at once. Kind of like designing your own video game by yourself. Also I had to tailor it to my family’s individual predilections as far as magic items and personal humor. ( I had a mithral shirt in the game as armor but the downside was the KISS logo and Gene Simmons face printed on the front). It’s also a bit time consuming.
Doing all of these things at once is a bit much especially throwing in the Holidays. Either way I survived and now the slow awfulness of January and the weather means I can finally focus on Bullfinch and my website. Last but not least, this strip is entirely digital! My new passion is my Wacom Intuos tablet, and I will tell you all about it!
Next: Digital Revolution!
