I trudge up to the old Carrier Dome all the time, living in Syracuse it’s what we do in the winter to keep from killing loved ones in the arctic conditions. I was privileged last night to be present at my first eye-witness basketball game to end with a gigantic buzzer beater from 75 feet. Syracuse was sitting on their 9-0 record assuming it was going to reach double digits fairly easily, having beaten Florida and Kansas already this season, Cleveland State was an afterthought. This was meant to be the cream-puff part of the schedule right before the grinder that is the Big East. Instead the Syracuse Men’s Basketball team found themselves locked in combat with a very similar team to themselves. Except Cleveland can break down the zone defense better and out-rebounded Syracuse 4 to 1. Still the Orange was able to tie the game up and force overtime, proving that even when they are playing bad they still have a chance to win. Or this could happen and overtime vanished:
