Team America: World Police is a comedy whose sole theme is to bash every aspect of post 9/11 politics and global situtations, with puppets. Not just any puppets, but those extra creepy marionette puppets like the old sixties Thunderbirds TV show. This movies somehow uses all of these elements to produce some of the funniest, crudest humor ever seen in a theater. If you can’t laugh at a puppet projectile puking a pond size puddle of vomit you may not understand the term comedy. One scene features vigorous, incredibly graphic, fully nude, puppet sex complete with an original ballad composed by one of the creators. Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creative team behind South Park on Comedy Central do most of the voices, all of the writing and the entire soundtrack as well. The best being the lonely song, which is sung by a solo Kim Jong Il the leader of North Korea ( a puppet version, anyway, who is the main antagonist in the movie).
Other highlights, which can reasonably be mentioned without being too NSFW, are a suicide ballpeen hammer, the term Derka Derka, and puppet versions of a slew of hollywood actors, who are not portrayed very favorably in the film. Minor complaints about the movie could be the lack of any real point behind the film. Both conservative and liberal views are equally skewered just as the famous figures on both sides of the political fence are firmly slandered. Personally I didn’t care, they had me at the destruction of Paris.
