Anchorman: Actually Funny, Despite What People Say.
November 11th, 2008 | by TLYou don’t get a spoiler warning, deal with it:
I can’t tell you how many people I recommend this movie to, only to have them come back to me and say it wasn’t funny. What. Look again people; Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, and even Vince Vaughn running around a 1970’s San Diego dressed as newscasters. Every actor involved in the movie is a recognizable funny man, no matter how small the role. There are cameos by Tim Robbins, Ben Stiller, and Luke Wilson in one scene, which may be the funniest scene in the last ten years of movie-making period. A battle royale between rival news stations (even NPR, N P R!) ensues leading Farrell’s team into deadly combat with weapons like tridents, grenades and wooden chair legs with circular sawblades attached! Even if you don’t like Luke Wilson he gets both arms amputated throughout the film, how’s that for fan service? This movie also includes sex panther, jazz flutes, unicorns ( Hell Yeah! ), and the words a whale’s vagina. Just rent the movie. Next film club we will discuss Team America: World Police.
